Landing is a zine created by and for the parachute generation
Parachute Generation (noun): Refers to children sent away to a new country at a young age to study abroad and/or live alone while their parents remain in their home country.

Landing is a passion project I created during quarantine, launched on September 1, 2020. As a Parachute Kid sent to an American boarding school at 15, I’ve always been fascinated by the experiences of youths who leave home for foreign education. These experiences shape who we are, how we live, and where we go.
Amidst the pandemic, I faced the challenges of being a twenty-something Parachute Kid: moving apartments, anticipating visa expirations, and navigating uncertainties about the future. This zine became my way of understanding and healing, allowing me to reflect on my past and connect with others who shared similar stories.
I collaborated with 6 artists and creatives, giving them the prompt: Tell me your Parachute story. As a creative, I immersed myself into writing, photography, and illustration over the course of four months. As the editor of the zine, I also used Adobe InDesign to design the zine and see it slowly come to life.
The title Landing emerged as a reflection of our shared journey—parachuting into the U.S. and slowly finding our footing. It’s about the process of searching for space, community, and belonging in a new country.
